Artist Statement:

Rafael Ramirez-Mercado is an oil and acrylic painter born and raised in the south side of Garden City, Kansas. As the child of immigrant parents, Rafael's art reflects his personal experiences and explores the current political climate. Through his art, he seeks to express his voice and highlight the issues that are important to him.

Rafael's works often have a deep meaning and tell a story. He uses his art to comment on the struggles and triumphs of his life, as well as the struggles of the community around him. His art is a reflection of his unique perspective as a child of immigrants and his desire to create a better world. Rafael's ultimate goal is to bring light to certain social issues and to inspire others to take action to effect positive change.

Rafael is skilled in both oil and acrylic painting and uses these mediums to create art that is both visually striking and socially impactful. Despite growing up in a working-class family, his passion for art has led him to pursue a career in the arts and to use his talents to make a positive impact in his community.

In the future, Rafael's goal is to continue finding interesting ways to tell stories through his art.
